This week has flown in. Its been quite intense and our dancing has improved markedly since Monday.
Its our first exam tomorrow hopefully it will go OK
Ooohhh.. Sore feet!! 5 and a half hours of classes. The pace isnt as bad as I thought it would be but its still pretty intense. The rest of the class seem to be a great bunch of guys girls and the Teacher (Sue) and painist (Andrew) are both excellent.
You really do need to know the prescribed dances before you get there though.
The grub at breakfast, lunch dinner is excellent. It would be very easy to put on weight, despite all the exercise.
Im starting to find my way around now. I mentioned at lunch time that I was planning to go to the university gym and Sue gave me directions to the Uni Sports Centre.. Its only about 2 or 3 minutes walk from University Hall. As I am a member of another gym I was able to get a day pass (5 pounds per session). You need to leave some form of ID with the sports centre reception and they give you a wrist band to wear. You get your ID back when you return the wrist band on your way out.
Wow, today has been a really long day. From standing for 1 and a quarter hours at 5am in the Check-in queue at Aldergrove airport, rushing through the pouring rain to Waverley station in Edinburgh, getting off the bus at the wrong stop in St Andrews and having to carry my luggage about a mile and a half up hill through the sweltering sunshine, right through to having a great evening meeting the other summer school attendees and staff and a few good dances to round the evening off.
Well the real work starts tomorrow morning so I think that Id better get an early night.br /br /a href=http://blogs.scottishdancing.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/20110717-222009.jpgimg src=http://blogs.scottishdancing.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/20110717-222009.jpg alt=20110717-222009.jpg class=alignnone size-full //a
Just 12 hours until I leave for the airport. Starting to get nervous. What have I let myself in for!
Well Ill be heading off to St. Andrews on a week and a half. I havent been to summer school for over 15 years. Im really looking forward to it.
I should be getting back to the Portadown class this Wesnesday.
The break from dancing (almost 5 weeks I think) combine with a large Christmas Dinner(s) has taken its’ toll so I don’t know how I will get on
Happy New Year to all dancers (and also to lesser mortals)
Congratulations to everyone in the DPA group for passing the assessment.
Hi all to all my dancing friends from Saturday. Very glad assessment is all over. very nervous and couldn,t think straight. It,s the usual old story – if I could turn the clock back I think I could do things better, but I,m sure we could all say that. good luck to all. I couldn,t go through that again.
Yay!!! Our assessment is finally over. I was much more nervous than I thought I would be.
I think that everyone did OK. There were a few hiccups due to nerves but overall it went well.
2 – 3 week wait now until the results come out from RSCDS HQ.
Good Luck Everyone!
Just 12 hours now until the assessments start. Butterflies are starting
See you all there.
